COMMENTS
As one of the smallest clubs in Orange County, the team entered the playoffs in February 08 at
Palm Desert as wild card underdogs. Phil Ramos & Larry Bann played as team one; Marv Gold & Bob
Zimmerman played as team two; Jerry Bassett & Brian Chisick played as team three; and Bill Skupen
played once as team one with Larry Bann and also was backup.
Prior to play Phil, who has been hampered by injuries, prayed the Rosary that he could play the
best he could without injuries and as an after thought that his team would win. He played well without
injuries, and his team did win! Phil prayed the Rosary again giving thanks! He was very happy!
The matches were very close. Team one and three did not win all their matches, but more
importantly they won when they had to. Team two was undefeated! This was an amazing feat, because
Marv Gold is 77, and Bob Zimmerman who is a singles champion played the whole tournament with an
injured leg. Even though he could not move well he along with Marv played tough as nails.
When the team learned that Phil prayed the Rosary they asked him to pray the Rosary again
when the team plays in the National Finals in April at Mobile, Alabama. Phil said he would.
