Prior to ABS requirements, the number 7
(blue) wire conductor was sized 12 AWG. This circuit was intended for
"auxiliary" purposes.
With ABS as law, DOT specified that the blud auxiliary circuit shall also be used for
continuous power for ABS and the size was changed from 12 to 10 AWG.
However, many auxiliary devices plus the demands of the ABS have caused some trucks to
experience overheating due to over-loading the amp capacity of the auxiliary blue wire
conductor as well as the ground white wire conductor.
One of the purposes of the Stallion Power 7 Way Socket is to
give the industry the option of choosing a larger auxiliary blue conductor and a larger
ground white conductor that will eleminate the over-loading and heating problem.
The chart at the below shows the Industry's maximum wire sizes vs. Stallion's maximum wire
sizes for the auxillary/ABS and ground wires.
The Stallion 7 way socket is interchangeable and works with all standard SAE
J560b plugs.
